August 17th, 2010 | Union Square Greenmarket - Saturdays
A note to anyone looking for us at the Union Square Greenmarkets: we will be there on Saturdays for the rest of the month, hope to you see you there!

June 22nd, 2010 | Online Store Now Open!
Hello all, our online store is now up and running! Thanks very much for your patience and support. We don't anticipate any glitches but we are new to this method of doing business, and are expecting a fair amount of orders right off the bat; so, if in the event you run into any problems or have any questions, please don't hesitate to email us at: cporganics@gmail.com.

Things to know about ordering:

Farmer Ground Flour Orders: Flour is milled fresh weekly. We will be grinding internet orders on Fridays and Saturdays, orders received by Thursday will be milled over the weekend and sent out at the beginning of the next week. Orders received after Thursday will not be processed until the following Thursday. So although you may have to wait a few extra days for an order, this ensures you are getting the freshest stone ground flour possible!

Bean and Grain Orders: These orders will be processed as they are received, and will be sent out at the beginning of every week, or sooner.

Payment Methods:

Credit Card Payments can be made, though at this point, having a dedicated credit card processing system through our store is prohibitively expensive. That said, credit card payments are possible through Paypal and Google Checkout. It's a quick extra step if you already have an account set up, and if you don't have an account, setting one up with either company is quick, safe and easy!

We will also be accepting personal checks via the mail upon approval, as well as electronic checks.

Shipping:

We're currently shipping through USPS and FedEx. These shipping methods are subject to change as we learn the system better. If and when we find more affordable shipping methods, we will keep you posted. And keep in mind, if you're in the Ithaca, NY area, you are always welcome to come to the farm for the best deal!

Harvests and Products:

As many of you may know, last year was a challenging year for growing organic beans in NY state. That said, our supply is now down to just a few varieties of '09 dry beans: Black Turtle, Kidney, Navy, Soy and Black Soy.

Looking towards the future, we are anticipating an incredible harvest in 2010. We have a handful of new certified organic specialty and heirloom varieties planned, such as: Adzuki, Cannelinni, Yellow Eye, Orca and Jacob's Cattle, as well as old customer favorites such as Pinto, Black, Navy, Small Red, Kidney, etc... We are currently well stocked with all of our grains.

Although we grow the majority of what we sell, if we are ever running low on a particular variety, we are fortunate enough to work closely with a network of local certified organic farmers to keep a ready supply. We will soon have a section of our main website (www.cporganics.com) dedicated to this network of farmers, so stay tuned!

Also of note: Being independent of our farm, the Farmer Ground flour mill is not "Certified Organic", however ALL ingredients are. As you might imagine, the piles of paper work and fees for becoming a "Certified Organic" operation can be overwhelming. In due time the mill will be certified, in the mean time, rest assured all ingredients we mill are 100% certified organic through Global Organic Alliance.

February 9th, 2010 | Updated Greenmarket Schedule
Our new Greenmarket schedule is now updated for the new year. Please check the Greenmarket section of this site for more info, and check back for last minute updates.

January 8th, 2010 | Saturday, Jan. 9th Greenmarket Update
While we will not be at Greenpoint McCarren park this week, we will be at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn, and also at the Inwood market in Manhattan. Hope to see you there!

March 4th, 2009 | Jacob's Cattle Update
We thank everybody for their enthusiasm about our heirloom Jacob's Cattle beans; unfortunately, with the exception of what we have left at NYC Union Square Greenmarket, we have just sold out! We'll be saving what we have left as seed to grow a larger crop for next year. We do still have plenty of Pintos, Blacks, Navies and Small Reds!

February 16th, 2009 | Winter Update
Greetings friends and neighbors! We are welcoming the new year with
great cheer as we proudly take stock of our new crop. Our fourth harvest
was the best one ever, as our soils became more fertile, systems improved,
and we honed our skills. What a year for Black Turtle beans! 2008 saw us
hire three new employees. Tycho , Adrian, and Harlan are bringing lots
of fresh energy to Cayuga Pure. Sadly however, we had to say goodbye to
Dan, our chief mechanic. Take care Dan, we wish you well!
Diversity was our motto in 2008. We grew just about everything under the
sun. In addition to our selection of beans and grains, we added potatoes,
field corn, and some heirloom varieties of wheat and legume. All of our
beans are now available for delivery just about anywhere in NY State
through Regional Access, Inc.
New Yorkers will be pleased to hear that our application to vend at the
Green Market was approved. We will be in Union Square every Wednesday
beginning in February. Come support the local food cause!
We are still moving forward with plans to grind our local grains into
meal and flour. Our partner, Tor Oeshner, is spearheading this effort,
along with marketing his own successful harvest. Tor still has many
grains and soybeans available, all certified organic!
Thanks folks, we'll see you soon. Stay tuned in and in tune!

December 31st, 2007 | Happy New Year!
The snow's falling and we are headlong into running beans! We are now cleaning our fall harvest and getting beans and grains ready for sale in our newly redesigned beanery.

If you're in Rochester, NY, you can now find our beans at Abundance cooperative food Market on Marshall St. (off monroe ave. in the city); they are great folks and have all kinds of great things to offer. Or, if you're in Brooklyn, you can now find our beans cooked up in a dish or in bulk at Marlow and Sons restaurant and market on Broadway, in Williamsburg.

If you are in the Ithaca area, our official retail outlet is Brookton's Market in Brooktondale. It's a quaint little place with coffee, sandwiches and whatever other goodies you might find yourself looking for. Feel free to stop by!

We hope the New Year is finding you warm and healthy! As always, if you're in the area feel free to stop by the farm and have a look around! Take care.

September 6th, 2007 | CPO Sweet Corn Harvest
Now that we're into September, we're just beginning to harvest our sweet corn. We've grown two popular varieties this summer, Siver Queen and Delectable. We'll be picking them right up to the frost, so, if you're interested in tracking some down, you can go to Greenstar Market, Ludgate Farms, or check out our stand in front of the soon to be up and running Brookton Market at 491 Brooktondale Rd, right out of town off route 79 east.

August 10th, 2007 | Organic Flour Mill
Summer is beginning to wrap up, and we are getting started on construction of our new organic flour mill. We are working in conjunction with our friend and organic farmer Thor Oeshner, of Newfield, NY. The mill will be located right next to our beanery in Brooktondale, NY. We plan to be milling various types of flour: whole wheat, oat, buckwheat, spelt, rye and even bean flours. If there is anything you'd like to see us mill, drop a line and let us know. Feel free to stop out to the farm in Brooktondale to see how things are coming along!
