After she arrived in New York, Deborah Gavito started Body & Soul - an all-natural baked goods and pastries business - with a $300 investment and a year spent lugging around fifty-pound sacks of flour around in a borrowed car... to a borrowed kitchen. Her loyal following grew to include specialty stores, supermarkets & customers at her Union Square Greenmarket outpost. Body & Soul eventually generated the capital to create Counter.
